Patch 0.7.0.11 - Rooms and Content
Hello, cool cats!
This update includes all the changes from the Beta update:
https://unknownorigingames.itch.io/oddrealm/devlog/69959/v0-7-0-10-patch-beta-ro...
As well as some fixes and additional content:
Patch notes:
-Added props: Stone Table, Stone Seat, Stone Fence, Stone Gate, Stone Ladder, Stone Stairs.
-Added surfaces: Grass and Void Grass.
-Rooms can now use different prop materials types to fulfill requirements. i.e., You can use Bronze or Iron Cauldron to make a Kitchen.
-Fixed a bug where room item designations would show up as unset each time item designation window was opened.
-Fixed a bug where toolbar buttons weren't registering clicks if the mouse is dragged when MB was held down.
-Added room quality. The room's quality will affect work output for a room and happiness of settlers.
-Fixed a bug where being zoomed far out could show tiles weirdly animating different parts of the texture atlas.
-Fixed an issue where underground discoveries were displayed when using the utilities menu.
-Fixed a bug where ladders were actually slowing settlers down. Whoops.
-Fixed a bug where props would have their lighting layers stack. i.e., the ladder was the most obvious culprit.
-Added a feature for players to limit their population of settlers and animals.
-Fixed a bug where seasons were indexing incorrectly, specifically, when you saved right before a new season happened, then loaded that save.
-Fixed a bug where the wrong grass texture would show between seasons. i.e., harvesting plants would have this happen often.
-Fixed a bug where the wrong tooltip would show for flooring and roofing.
-Added a little overlay to the mining job designation. Ore now has a little icon (if visible) to indicate it is ore.
A couple things I wasn't able to address for this build, but will add for the next one:
-Right now you need specific professions to utilize rooms instead of just a skill. i.e., The Cook to use the Fire Pit. This is a huge pain and I intend to change it so it just requires the skill. That was something I should have noticed earlier. My bad! Will change very soon.
-To quickly get grass into the game, I've got it requiring dirt clods. I want to see if you folks think that's fine or if it should use a grass seed. Will add seeds if requested.
-A tutorial for rooms.
Next steps:
Aside from the above stuff, I am going to focus on re-writing how settlers reserve items and blocks in the game. This system is super old and hasn't seen a lot of love and, as a result, has caused a lot of annoying bugs. i.e., settlers not deconstructing stuff, or just standing still.
Next, next steps:
I'll continue to put in QoL stuff as well as content like more props and rooms. As I work on that, I'm going to start transitioning my attention towards the overworld map. I'm very excited to start work on that and changes for it will include: sieging/raiding other settlements, scouting, caravans/trading, and better overworld map UI. It's going to be a huge undertaking and I'll likely release it in segments.
Thanks!

Waylon
